The Mains is descriptive. All 6 papers carry 250 marks each and are 3 hours long. Total: 1,500 marks. These marks ARE counted in the final merit list.

Frequently Asked Questions – APSC CCE Syllabus 2026

Q1. Is there an optional subject in APSC CCE?

No. Unlike UPSC, APSC CCE has no optional subject. All candidates appear for the same 6 papers in Mains.

Q2. What percentage of Prelims Paper I relates to Assam?

30–35% of questions in General Studies Paper I will compulsorily be related to Assam.

Q3. Is CSAT (Paper II) counted for merit in Prelims?

No. Paper II is qualifying only. You need minimum 33% (66 marks) to clear it, but its marks do not affect your Prelims ranking.

Q4. How many marks does the Assam-specific Mains paper carry?

General Studies V (Assam-specific paper) carries 250 marks — equal to all other GS papers.

Q5. Can I write the Mains exam in Assamese?
